Do we see improvement in Filipino movies? Whenever I see old Filipino movies, vintage and below, I can see the quality and originality of such movies, its rarity and truthfulness. Now, I can't find a Filipino movie I can call as Filipino. Most movies right now are rip- offs of Hollywood movies. Is this a sign that the Filipino movie industry is on a plunge to lameness? Or is it already lame?
It can't help but catch attention- only the movies from the past are the ones that really got noticed, left a mark. Can the Filipino movie industry produce another "Himala"? To get to somewhere, you have to have a goal or at least point at a certain direction and move towards it. Are Filipino filmmakers, nowadays just makes movies which are rip- offs? Where is the film industry really heading? Can you blame us we don't watch Filipino movies because of the strange feeling of "I've seen this before"?
We have yet to see a good Filipino film at par with the ones made during vintage times. This is an outstandinf challenge to Filipino filmmakers. Filipino's are now global, they will not settle for lameness evenif you say "Tangkilin and sariling atin" or sa atin ba talaga yan?
