The Philippines' Official Language

The Philippines' official language is Filipino. It is commonly mistaken as Tagalog, but actually Tagalog is just a dialect. Although Filipino and Tagalog are almost similar, the big difference lies in Filipino being Lingua Franca. Meaning, many other dialects are incorporated and used in the Official Language: Filipino.

English on the other hand is regarded as the second language of Filipinos. No matter where in the Philippines you'll go, most, if not all speak English. This is one asset the Philippines has when it comes to tourism. Fluency of the universal language. Lately, there was a large demand for English Teachers all over the Philippines. This further enhanced the fluency of Filipinos of the English language.

All over the Philippine Archipelago, there exists more or less 65 dialects which are totally different and unique from one another. These dialects are still used widely all over the Philippines. The most common dialects are Ilocano, Pangasinense in the northern part of the archipelago, Bisaya, Ilonggo, Cebuano in the southern part.
